Gerry Hickey’s notable achievements include Care Award from VIREB and he is involved on the Advisory Council at City Hall. He also is Involved in fund raising for Salmon Foundation local dinner in Port Alberni; Ducks Unlimited fund raiser local dinner; K-40 (Kinsmen); Port Alberni Fair in September; Salvation Army fund raising kettle at Christmas Time (mans it for hours out in the cold and the wet)

 Pat HIckey is involved as a SPCA Fund Raiser for National Cupcake Day on February 27, 2017. She also is a Rotarian.

Both Gerry and Pat are Members of the Sunshine Club.

We are grateful to have raised over $650,000 for animals across Canada. Pre-register for National Cupcake Day 2017 by signing up on the form.

Dog Day in the Park

RE/MAX Mid-Island Realty hosted “Dog Day in the Park” on Sunday, July 15th! Local REALTORS® and staff from Mid-Island Realty were fundraising for the SPCA, activities included silent auction, Doghouse raffle, grooming/comb-outs, hot dog sale, Look-alike contest and more, raising a total of $1,422 for our local SPCA!

This is our 10th annual year supporting the RE/MAX Ride the Rim, headed by Robin Nadig and fellow bike riders, starting at our RE/MAX Ucluelet office; they ride their bikes ending at our Port Alberni location, raising money and awareness for Type 2 Diabetes!

Movember-Charity

Movember

Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mos’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives. This is our 3rd year at RE/MAX Mid-Island Realty having our own team to support Movember. Join the cause next Movember!

Festival of Trees

Yearly we sponsor a tree at Festival of Trees, held at our local Best Western Barclay Hotel, donating many toys and donations to Children’s Miracle Network and our local Vancouver Children’s Hospital.

KU-UUS Crisis Line Tree

This year we sponsored and decorated a Christmas tree which was in turn provided to a needy family.

RE/MAX places a great deal of importance on community service initiatives and our charity of choice is the Children’s Miracle Network. The CMN benefits BC Children’s Hospital, which provides care to almost 800 visitors every day, on average. Many of us in Port Alberni have had BC Childrens Hospital touch our lives over the years and are so thankful this wonderful facility is there when we need it.

There are several ways in which we fundraise for this remarkable charity.

At RE/MAX Mid-Island Realty, we believe in giving back as much as possible to the community that has given so much to us. We are truly grateful to live in such an incredible part of the world, with even more remarkable people, and it is our sincere pleasure to be able to give of ourselves to the community in any way we can. What is the Children’s Miracle Network?

Children’s Miracle Network has grown dramatically since its founding in 1983 from a televised fundraiser in a small studio to one of the North America’s leading children’s charities. The organization was founded by Marie Osmond and her family as well as John Schneider, Mick Shannon and Joe Lake and it set out with two simple goals:

  1. Help as many children as possible by raising funds for children’s hospitals.
  2. Keep funds in the community in which they were raised to help local children.

In 30 years, Children’s Miracle Network has raised $4.7 billion, most of it $1 at a time. But the need is ever-present. Right now there’s a Children’s Miracle Network member hospital working to save the lives of kids in your community. In fact, 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute — that’s one child every second. Some are battling cancer. Some are suffering from a traumatic injury. Others require constant care because they were born too early, or with a genetic disease.

Regardless of why the kids are there, Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals always have their doors open. Our Network includes 170 hospitals that provide world-class care for every patient.

The RE/MAX Miracle Home Program allows our real estate professionals the opportunity to make a donation to Children’s Miracle Network on behalf of each home sold. At RE/MAX, we believe the difference we make when we help others in our community benefits us all.

We are proud of our 22 year partnership with Children’s Miracle Network. RE/MAX has designated August of each year to be the RE/MAX Month of Miracles.
